The scene was pure candor: like any average
American kid, Zac Efron, lead actor in High School
Musical 3, got into the showers of his school after a
football tournament, and in a display of
camaraderie, played with his friends under the
backdrop of the water. Apparently Disney
executives thought it appeared to be a bit too
homo-gratuitous, and despite the potential
dividends of showing the chest of the young star,
decided to remove the scene from the final
theatrical cut. It is well known: the rituals considered
most "macho" tend to be borderline gay.
Surely the scene would have not drawn more than
a whisper, but the sponsors did not want to risk it.
High School Musical already had covered their
share of controversy when nude photos of Gabrielle
appeared on the internet. Out of script and much to
the delight of her boyfriend Zac, the teen appeared
in some photos wearing a chain around her waist,
and nothing more than that. The star was on the brink following the tragic fate of other Hollywood teens, but
avoided the disaster and remained in the casting.

polémica cuando aparecieron fotos
de Gabrielle desnuda. Fuera de guión
y para deleite de su novio Zac, la
adolescente se sacó algunas fotos
usando una cadena en la cintura, y
nada más que eso. La estrella estuvo
al borde en seguir el destino trágico
de muchas adolecentes en
Hollywood, pero esquivó el desastre
y se mantuvo en el casting.
