The sexiest men and women of Daytime show their support of Democratic presidential candidate Barack
Obama in a “media friendly” photo shoot wearing the best-selling “Obama ’08 Briefs” designed by leading
underwear ad fashion designer Andrew Christian against a stunning backdrop of the U.S. American flag. A
portion of the proceeds from the sale of the briefs is contributed to Barak Obama’s presidential campaign.

Though Andrew has been producing contemporary collections of urban inspired menswear, swimwear, edgy
tees, and accessories since its inception in 1997, it was Andrew’s innovative underwear designs that
established the company as a force in the fashion world. Andrew’s designs can now be found in exclusive
boutiques such as Kitson Men (Los Angeles), Fred Segal (Los Angeles), and Patricia Field (New York), to
name a few.
Q & A with AMBIENTE:
- Andrew, what inspired to develop the Obama Line?
- What has been the response?
I really wanted to lend my support for Barack Obama to become the next president of the United States.
Obama has inspired thousands of young Americans that real change is possible and attainable. Being a
designer this is the way I thought I could bring more attention to the cause. The response has been
overwhelmingly positive. I think young people really identify with Barack Obama.
- Where can we find the line currently?
MY line can be found at specialty boutiques all around the country, but the complete line is available on my
website andrewchrisitian.com
- Is this your first politically inspired line? Will there be others?
This is my first politically inspired line, and I really enjoyed the whole process. This may not be the last
politically inspired line.
- We know you are king in the underwear design world, not to mention have the hottest ad campaigns.
What other product lines do you currently have or are developing?
I have so many projects in the works. Right now we are releasing our anti-muffin top elastic on our
underwear. It is super soft, super stretch elastic that has a lot of give and does not create that undesirable
muffin top. I am also working on a eco-friendly organic underwear line, this is set for release in Spring 2009. I
think people want to be good to the environment and still be stylish and sexy. My Organic underwear defiantly
fits the bill.
- As an openly gay, very successful businessman of Mexican heritage, you are an inspiration to many.
What advise do you have for an aspiring LGBT/Latino designer?
My advise would be never give up and don’t take no for an answer. I had a dream and vision and never lost
sight of it. I have had so many doors slammed in my face and I never gave up. Anything rewarding is going to
be a lot of work.
- What are the most important issues for you in this
campaign?
I think health care is a major issue in this country.
Even Americans who have health insurance are
jerked around by insurance companies only worried
about their bottom line.
- What can any of us do to get involved & influence our
own destiny/future?
I think the first step is action and we can do that now
with voting and letting the politicians in Washington
know we are ready for change.
- Have you had any contact with the campaign
directly? Do you know if Obama has your briefs?
I did send Barack Obama some of our underwear. He did acknowledge receiving them, so hopefully he is
wearing them.
- What do you wear to sleep?
My favorite to sleep in is my Bamboo fiber boxers. They are so unbelievably soft and are also eco-friendly.
- Is there a significant other in your life…Wearing your briefs?
At the moment no, but I am optimistic the briefs will be filled soon.
