“The Nate Berkus Show” Series Premiere Will Feature
Interview With Elizabeth Edwards

Oprah protege Nate Berkus has snagged Elizabeth Edwards — jilted bride of shamed
politico John Edwards — for its series premiere next month, Harpo Productions have
announced.

Berkus will sit down with the cancer-stricken Mrs. Edwards as she reveals how she is
beginning a new chapter in her life after her husband’s polarizing sex scandal. She’ll
also open the doors to her Chapel Hill, North Carolina home furnishings business —
Red Window — and discuss how her passion for design is reclaiming her life.

Elizabeth talked about John’s affair and lovechild with videographer Rielle Hunter in the
2009 best-selling memoir, Resilence.

“I found Elizabeth to be incredibly honest, funny and just a pleasure to be around. Her
passion to build a new life for herself is nothing if not inspiring. And, the fact that we
both love design, gave us an instant connection,” says Berkus, who rose to
prominence after his talents as an interior decorator where touted by The Queen of
Talk.

Nate adds that Elizabeth’s “candor, pure wit and love of life” will surprise the viewers.

The Nate Berkus Show premieres Sept. 13.
Berkus was born in Orange County, California and
grew up mainly in suburban Minneapolis. He is
Jewish and openly gay.  He started working in
design straight after leaving high school and
interned at Dominique Aurientis in Paris and
Sotheby's in Chicago.  Berkus graduated from
Lake Forest College near Chicago in 1994 with
degrees in French and Sociology.   Berkus founded
the company, Nate Berkus Associates, in Chicago
in 1995.
Berkus is related to the venture capitalist David
Berkus, the musician Gunther Berkus and Josh
Berkus of Software in the Public Interest. Designer
Nancy Golden from HGTV and DIY networks is his
mother.

In December 2004 Berkus and his partner,
photographer Fernando Bengoechea, were
vacationing at a beach resort in Sri Lanka when the
2004 Indian Ocean tsunami hit. While Berkus
survived, Bengoechea is missing and presumed
dead. Berkus appeared on The Oprah Winfrey
Show on January 17, 2005, to talk about his ordeal
and the loss of his love.

Berkus is currently involved in a
relationship with Bally Shoe designer
Brian Atwood.
