MATINÉE WATERWORKS NYC PRIDE

Matinée is taking the reigns of New York Pride this year,
presenting the city’s first ever waterpark experience.
MATINÉE NEW YORK PRIDE: THE WATERPARK FESTIVAL
will take place Saturday, June 23rd from 3:00pm – midnight
at New York’s massive, all-new 100,000 square foot outdoor
venue. Music will be by CircuitFestival Barcelona headliners,
DJ Taito Tikaro and Hector Fonseca, and a surprise celebrity
performer.
"Pride revelers are going to be in awe when we reveal
New York Pride's first ever waterpark experience," says
Patrick Crough, the Creative Director and Managing Partner
of Matinée North America. He and Jake Resnicow have
brought the majesty of Matinée to the states with such
spectacles as Matinée Las Vegas Festival and Matinée at
Universal Studios Florida. This year for NYC Pride, they will
mimic Matinée’s world-renowned CircuitFestival Barcelona
waterpark party, a summer event that attracts over 70,000
attendees annually.
"By mixing our Broadway-show caliber production with
waterpark elements, this party is going to mark history for
NYC Pride," predicts Resnicow. "It's just another way for us
to 'one-up' ourselves from the last party. Get ready for a
spectacle that is truly going to be bigger and better."
Matinée launched fifteen years ago in Ibiza with the idea
to elevate parties by crafting elaborate sets and theatrical
productions.
“I first experienced Matinée in Spain,” remembers
Crough. “It was like entering an adult carnival. Matinée didn’t
just pump dance music in a dark room and a single set of
lights. The event was a full on festival for the senses. I was
captivated immediately and convinced I wanted to be a part
of it.”
Crough first joined Matinée as a performer in Europe.
When Matinée decided to expand its brand into North
America, they asked him to join Resnicow in overseeing and
producing all the parties in the USA and Canada.
The duo made their New York debut in 2010 during
Pride week. At their Saturday party, 4,000 revelers boarded
water taxis to New York City’s Governor’s Island and at
sunset, a surprise fireworks display ignited the Manhattan skyline.
Since then, they have produced a slew of Matinée events across the country. Most recently, Matinée at Miami’s Winter Party Festival and
Matinée Las Vegas Festival, an event that featured eight parties over Memorial Day Weekend; selling out all the city's hottest venues.
“It takes an army to put these elaborate events together,” says Resnicow, referring to the lighting technicians, sound engineers, props
crew, and legions of others who work behind-the-scenes at Matinée. “Pioneering an epic party is a tremendous amount of work but well
worth it. We are so excited to present our favorite city with the biggest and wettest party of pride summer.”
