I am so angry at this insanity and outright hate being introduced as a law, but why
should it surprise me? I live in the ONLY state that believes that I am good enough to
be a foster parent for up to 18 years of a childes life, but not good enough to actually
give him a solid stable foundation and family. I am good enough to pander to, ask for
political & social contributions, go to weddings, someone else’s kids birthday party,
and mourn at funerals…But God - or Tallahassee & D.C. politicians forbid – I actually
want any of those same things for me and my partner. Who do I think I am deciding
for myself who should decide for me when I can’t, who I want to share my life, love
and riches with, or who I want to mold into a wonderful, loving & contributing adult.
And now I guess I am good & moral enough to PAY taxes, but not to have a say in how
they are spent or what movies I believe should be made with my orange juice money.
Carlos and Carmen Vidal just had a child
A lovely girl with a crooked smile
Now they gotta split 'cause the Bronx ain't fit
For a kid to grow up in
Let's find a place they say, somewhere far away
With no blacks, no Jews and no gays
There but for the grace of God, there go I…
- There but for the grace of God By Machine, 1979
Lets find a place I say, somewhere right here, with whomever wants to live, love &
coexist, with men, women, blacks, whites, Jews, Christians, everybody - and lots and
lots of GAYS! Enough with the Crazies, Bans & Discrimination - There but for the grace
of God, there go I.

EDITORIAL| Enough with the Crazies, Bans & Discrimination -
Florida Belongs to ALL of Us
by Herb Sosa
ENOUGH with everyone trying to dictate what others need to do. I have had
ENOUGH with others telling me who to love, who to marry or not. ENOUGH with
others telling me I am not good enough to raise a healthy, loving & morally
sound child. I have had ENOUGH with bigotry, hate and discrimination dictating
our laws. ENOUGH with the last immigrant saying they are the last allowed to
stay. ENOUGH of the hypocritical political & religious self-proclaimed
barometers of morality and what is best for us…. We've all seen how well they
seem to be doing and going at it personally.
Now we have a hate-monger in Orlando trying to tell us where & how my tax
dollars will be spent, and who will be excluded from them, based on some
outdated and ignorant platform of false morality.
Movies and TV shows with gay characters could be ineligible for a "family-
friendly" tax credit in Florida under a little-noticed provision tucked into a $75
million incentive package that Republican House leaders hope will attract film
and entertainment
jobs to the state.
The bill would prohibit
productions with
"nontraditional family

values" from receiving a so-called family-friendly tax credit. But it doesn't define what
"nontraditional family values" are, something the bill's sponsor had a hard time doing,
too.
"Think of it as like Mayberry," state Rep. Stephen Precourt, R-Orlando, said, referring to
The Andy Griffith Show. "That's when I grew up — the '60s. That's what life was like. I want
Florida to be known for making those kinds of movies: Disney movies for kids and all
that stuff. Like it used to be, you know?"
But the head of a coalition of 80 groups that advocate for equal rights said Precourt's bill
would "subsidize discrimination" and marginalize gay and single-parent families.
Instituting 1950s-style movie censorship does nothing to support real-life families or help
Florida's struggling economy," said Ted Howard, executive director for Florida Together.
FAMILY VALUES... Who's? This ban would mean single
parents, unmarried parents, smokers, drinkers, fat
people, skinny people, gay people, Burka wearing Muslims,
bikini wearing Anglos, people with accents...
