'Nurse Jackie' Drops Haaz Sleiman
Former 'Sopranos' star Edie Falco is no stranger to people suddenly getting whacked.
But she probably didn't expect it to happen to one of her co-stars.
According to the Ausiello Files, Haaz Sleiman, who had been one of Falco's most
prominent co-stars on her current Showtime series 'Nurse Jackie,' has been abruptly
dismissed from the series. Considering the popularity of Sleiman's character, gay
nurse Mohammed "Mo-Mo" De La Cruz, the move comes as a surprise from the
drama, which returns for its second season on March 2.
It also apparently came as a surprise to Sleiman, who prior to 'Nurse Jackie' had been
best known for co-starring in 2008's acclaimed indie film 'The Visitor.' Sleiman's
representatives told EW that the network decided "the character's storyline ran its
course," adding that he was "surprised. It came out of left field."
Fans of Sleiman won't have to wait too long to see him again, of course, as his next
film work, the low budget drama 'Highland Park,' is currently in post-production for a
2010 release. That will be a little comfort to 'Nurse Jackie' viewers, however, who will
likely be a bit puzzled at Sleiman's absence, especially considering his character's
disappearance isn't addressed on screen

at all.
Showtime must have had their reasons for Sleiman's dismissal, but they way they handled it proves one thing: even if their diagnosis was correct, they need a lot of work on their bedside manner.
